Prevention of the import of counterfeit goods

Recording of the results of intellectual activities into the Customs Register allows to prevent import of counterfeit goods or original products without permission from their manufacturer (parallel import).

Russian Customs Register of Intellectual Properties is kept by the Russian Federal Customs Service.

The Customs Register protects the trademarks (service marks) and items subject to copyright and related rights. It also covers appellations of origin included in it.

Protection of the intellectual property rights included into the Customs Register cannot exceed two years after its listing there. The time of protection of intellectual property rights can be prolonged upon request.

If an intellectual property item is included into the Russian Customs Register, customs will be able to ban entering a counterfeit product into Russia, to arrest it, to conduct a necessary investigation, and even to apply to court.

The maximum period of entries within the Customs Register is 3 years, but it can be prolonged without limitation of times.

Intellectual property items protected in each of 5 states of the Eurasian Economic Union are included in the Unified Customs Register of the EAEU i.e. simultaneously within the following countries: Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

Eurasian Economic Commission protects rights of holders by means of the Unified Customs Register according to the approved maintaining regulations for this Register.
